West Kowloon Cultural District The Room, Freespace WestK|WestK FunFest 2025: Grensgeval in collaboration with Aifoon – Murmur
Description
Be transported to a magical acrobatic world of imaginary creatures and tactile sounds – a circus sound theatre for all the senses
This spring, join us at WestK FunFest 2025 for Murmur – a mesmerising acrobatic sound theatre performance by acclaimed Belgian circus company Grensgeval and sound arts organisation Aifoon.
Moving around the performance space, pulling tiny speakers from his suit, performer Camiel Corneille conjures a world full of sounds. From a pocket comes a purring cat, a swarm of bees flies through the air, two arms create the sound of cars, a finger squeaks on a window pane. An indistinct noise becomes sound of the sea, the rush of the wind, an intake of breath...
As the acrobatic composer creates his live, moving landscape of loudspeakers, his choreography becomes increasingly daring. Moving from the floor to the air, he jumps, falls, rolls and flies, shaping a magical whirlwind of sounds and noises and making everyone part of a swirling soundscape!
Combining dance, movement, audience interaction and loudspeakers of different shapes and sizes, Murmur is an imaginative sensory performance that will captivate audiences of all ages.
Notes for Families and Children:
The performer occasionally interacts with the audience and invites participation. If you prefer not to engage, please let the staff know during admission.
Adults and children will be asked to remove high-heeled shoes before entering the venue, and to cover flat shoes with shoe covers provided on-site.
